Change of editorial policy towards case reports

In line with changing practice in many clinical journals, the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Surgical Oncology is reviewing its policy on the publication of case reports. The Board recognizes the educational and interest value of case reports, and is keen to retain the form for the Journal. However, the generous publication of case reports can consume disproportionate space in any journal, and we are therefore keen to experiment with new formats. Publication of case reports is generally restricted to three per issue of EJSO at present, and there is now a substantial backlog of reports awaiting publication.
